A Message from Donald F. Hadley, President and Owner
Our time spent living is precious. I have learned that in order to be the best you can be, you need to be intentional about how you use your energy and your passion. FFG Companies, Inc. believes our fundamental purpose is to provide a service to business owners that will result in
a better quality of life, stronger businesses and bigger achievements.
The result of this purpose is our company and the clients we serve give back to our community by sharing our time, talents and teasure. Together, we are part of a larger community that provides others opportunities to grow, develop and advance.
As we grow our business, we consciously look for ways to proactively increase our support of the community in way’s that will provide seed monies to develop self-sustaining programs. Curently, we actively support the following agencies:
Meals on Wheels
Since 1974, Meals on Wheels has been providing nutritious meals to the homebound elderly and persons with disabilities in Wake County in an effort to improve health, reduce isolation, and prevent inappropriate institutionalization. Serving close to 1,400 meals daily to homes and nutrition centers, Meals on Wheels provides the frailest of our community’s citizens with a voice to achieve healthful independence.
Methodist Home For Children Foundation
Methodist Home for Children, headquartered in Raleigh, NC seeks to build upon the social, physical, emotional, and spiritual strengths of children, youth, and families and to affirm their worth. MHC seeks to ensure safe, nurturing homes for children while working to eradicate the social and family problems that lead to abuse, neglect, family disruption, and child abandonment. Founded in 1899 as a traditional, campus-based orphanage in Raleigh, Methodist Home for Children now provides community-based services for children and families throughout central and eastern North Carolina. There are approximately 400 children in care on any given day. Current services include: family reunification and counseling, foster care, therapeutic foster care, adoption, training and outreach assistance for parents, 10 group homes, childcare workers, and other professionals.
The Crossnore School
The Crossnore School is a residential education facility providing mountains of hope for children in need. Since 1913 when doctors Eustace & Mary Martin Sloop rode horses up an unpaved road to the mountaintop at Crossnore, NC, the residential home and school they founded has helped thousands of children regain their childhood and discover the life changing power of hope. Crossnore School's special niche is keeping sibling groups together, embracing sibling groups as large as 11 and as young as infants.
The Literacy Council of Wake County
Since 1970, the Literacy Council of Wake County (LCWC) has been teaching adults how to read and write better through the use of volunteer, one-on-one tutors. The LCWC also has an English as a Second Language (ESL) program designed for students whose native language is not English. Literacy skills are measured on a scale of 1 to 5, with Level 5 reflecting the highest skills and Level 1, the lowest. Generally, those adults who score at Level 1 have difficulty performing such everyday tasks as locating an intersection on a street map, reading and comprehending a short newspaper article, or calculating total costs on an order form.According to the Adult Literacy Estimates based on the 1990 U.S. Census, 17% of Wake County's population is at "Level 1." Based on a population in Wake County of 335,891 adults, 57,101 adults are at Level 1.
Triangle Community Foundation
Founded in 1983, Triangle Community Foundation connects philanthropic resources with community needs, creates opportunity for enlightened change and encourages philanthropy as a way of life. The Foundation manages nearly 700 funds, ranging in size from $10,000 to $10 million, primarily for the benefit of Wake, Durham, Orange and Chatham counties in North Carolina. With $140 million in assets, Triangle Community Foundation gave more than $13 million in grants to nonprofits, schools and community efforts last year, raising the total value of grants made since the Foundation’s inception to more than $120 million.
